Just Letting You Know….

man i really need to start writing more… but sometimes the week goes by and there really isn’t much that i can talk about as it feels like a routine week now and its the same stuff occurring week in week out….

over the past two weeks though alot has happened. Study. Rugby. Stressing myself over nothing but seems like big important things (similar to the stuff i spoke on in my last post)….. but still alot… last week we actually only had two days of classes. Monday was a public holiday for Columbus Day, and Thursday and Friday we experienced a campus wide blackout…

we had really strong winds that broke trees and that aleffected the power grids etc… so i ventured to Connecticut MA. Kaleigh my suitmate is from Simsbury Connecticut MA, so i took a trip with her for the weekend as the power was predicted to not being back on until late Saturday night, but the Friday morning i awoke to a message from the school that the power had returned…. but never the less it was actually really good to just be off campus and be in a home environment. it also gave me a chance to meet Kaleighs parents and little brother. her family is really great and so welcoming.

we went to the outlets, where i got to get a jump start on the kids xmas presents…. im like a little kid in a candy store with all these options of things to buy for the kids… then i had to remind myself, Christi do not go overboard with presents like you always do… you have to save for adventuring as well… πŸ™ŠπŸ˜‚

Sunday morning was a very early start, as i had to be back on campus for our rugby game… and now we are currently 6-0 and might i add got to score my first try for rugby… and the girls gave me a shoutout for my tackling, i just literally just wanted to tackle bitches… which now i think of it i was a really lazy defender in rugby league back home… hmmm…. food for thought for myself…. maybe because i was just knew someone was going to make that tackle or someone covered me butt in defense…. but tomorrow we play our last fixtured game against Farmington. then the following week is Championships game….

Its the start Halloween week – well from my perspective the whole month of October has been preparations for halloween.. activities and festivities all week long… im super keen to hit Salem up on October 31st and experience a true American Halloween… dress ups, trick or treating, scary houses… you name it… πŸ‘ŒπŸΎπŸ˜‚ but Salem is well known for the Salem witch trials… it gets alot of people through especially the week of… so as i said im a little excited… I Havent entirely got a big ‘halloween costume’ yet… i mean what can i dress up as… should of brought my costumes from over home and just threw fake blood over it…. but its all good… i have a friendly bright orange Halloween shirt….

studies have been going well. ive had a midterm for American Pop Culture class… it wasnt as intense as i expected. questions of the content we have been going over… turns out ive actually had a couple of mid terms, i just thought they were quizzes like we do at home on the computer, but its all hand written in lesson time… but as i said i am going ok, there are days where i do stress about the study load but hey thats life… this past two weeks have been a little harder because i have experienced the worst homesickness spells…. i am ok, and know it is perfectly normal to experoence and feel this way… i mean i cant just jump in the car and travel 4hours to see the family and friends like i normally do… but the group’s of friends ive made have been great and always keeping me busy or respecting that i meed a a little time to myself to just get a grip of myself….

Its starting to really hit me though because its the end of week 8 and that means we have 4 weeks until thanksgiving break, and then its three weeks ssentially left of the semester after that…. My exchange program has come by so quick… i want it slow down… and technically i have made some progress of starting to do more here at Endicott. Kaleigh and I volunteered to help with the Safe Trick or Treat night here on campus. its give parents a chance to bring their kids trick or treating… it was so much fun, seeing all the little kids dressed up in their costumes… oh my goodness they were all the most adorable little things i have seen. this little one was dressed up as Minnie Mouse head to toe and just so cute.. and a few little babies 😍😍😍.

other than that, its study, training, study… study… and trying not to spend money haha… i miss home like crazy… living on campus is great and i am having the best experience, but its little things that are getting to me lately… ive been so independent for so long i just up and go… and not having a car doesnt help… it just makes me appreciate things that i take for granted back home a little more.

Endicott had another speaker. this time it was Guest Speaker – Dr. Philip Deloria. Dr Deloria, a past president of the American Studies Association, will trace the tradition of white β€œIndian play” from the Boston Tea Party to the New Age movement, and examine “the ideologies surrounding Indian people and the ways Native Americans have challenged them through sports, travel, automobility, and film and musical performance.” I found this talk so informative as to how Americans interpret an ‘Indian’. Dr. Deloria also spoke in his native tongue and i felt so humbled to hear a Native American language and his acknowledgment to his people past present and the traditional custodians of the land Endicott dwells on. I love hearing native languages, especially those that are very few these days. I really wanted to pick his brain about Native Americans, but unfortunately i was already running late to training as it was. but never the less i will seek more information about the Native people of America. I have been reading about some of the history here in America and it really makes me want to delve more into my own culture back home.

That is it for now… I will post more when i get a chance through the week.
