Two weeks here already….

alrighty, apologies for the tardiness of this weeks blog.. I have been rather busy with classes and had a very weekend… πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

So, the start of classes on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday had me all excited to learn. I am studying five (5) courses whilst I am over here. I have had to change one of my original courses that was selected for me (Introduction to Business Analytics), only because I personally felt that some of the stuff I probably learnt in a previous course in Australia. but hey whos to say that I might have learnt something new. But never the less, I have chosen to study American Pop Culture. Everyone who knows me, knows that the United States has always been my ultimate holiday destination. Ive always been fascinated with American sports, culture and its history. So, i think this is a great chance to understand the pop culture of America.

I am a little thrown with the the study load of studying 5 courses, I mean thats a full time load here, whereas in Australia our full-time study load at CQU is 4 units. I know I will manage it.. Just its at the point of the term that I know i shouldnt over stress myself by overthinking it. that time is for later on down the track… but whats really thrown me is all the reading materials I have… I know Business and Accounting units in Australia, usually has one or two textbooks and then your source out extra journal articles and books…. But somehow I have all these books.. like i said, not going to overstress about it as i know i will do fine. Positivity. πŸ™‚ I got this… so lately though I have thoroughly enjoyed class and meeting all different students that are in different years… It still gets me that something so simply such as terminology can have different words and meanings to Australian. like when everyone kept asking me what my major was in the first week or so and even in orientation im like Human Resource Management. Later I realised that they were referring to what we in Australia call our university degree. Also instead of 1st year, 2nd year etc, they use Freshman, Sophmore, Junior and Senior. Still trips me out….

Friday night though was super fun… I got to experience my first ever college football game… Lets just say the crowd was packed, the game was good, interception, Touchdowns.. Like i said earlier, I like american sports… my brothers and I talk about NFL and College football all the time back home… The game commenced just after 7pm and Endicott Gulls came away with the win 55 – 27 over Framingham State. #GoGulls….. But the best exciting news is I went to the women’s rugby training, and I am kinda excited to play….

Saturday was a chill day, catching up with readings of books mostly… oh and sleep… but the fun part of saturday was after dinner, chilling and walking off the food with Kaleigh (suitemate) and a few of the girls…. We walked around campus, made our way to the football field and I just couldnt help but take a photo… I mean when am i ever going to get to walk on a gridiron field…

So Sunday though was a massive adventure…. we spent the afternoon adventuring Boston…. Finally got to adventure around the place… Its like a whole nother planet… I told Kaleigh who has been amazing and was my tour guide that this place makes Brisbane seem super small… Well thats my opinion… haahaha… We had lunch at Blaze Pizza, then went to the harbour, walked through The Common, ventured to Quincy Markets, made our way to Fenway Park… Didnt get to go into Fenway, but the bars and the people of Boston were everywhere…. We are definitely planning a Boston Red Sox game before the season is out…. We also did some window shopping, cot fresh canolys with chocolate custard…. well i did anyhow… it was so good…. We went to the Cheers Bar. Sister would be proud of me, I actually am learning to drink beer ahahaha…. We finished the evening with having dinner at The Cheesecake Factory… I was like in heaven… Margaritas… big ass meals…. I ordered Steak Dianne thinking it be a big piece of steak, nope it was soo good, a few chunks of really good steak with grilled mushrooms and onion with mash mixed with something and a jus… It was sooo amazing, I couldnt finish it… Plus I wanted to save room for dessert… haahah ….. CHEESECAKE!!!! the selection was endless… so many to chose from… But I had tiramisu… Lets say that I was so full and will have to most defs work off all that cakes this week…

But that is all for now… until the weekend…. It is time for some study and lots of reading to do….. Wish me luck…..
