So its officially been a week that i have been here in the United States… Yahoooo…. lol… i pinch myself all the time that i am in another country. im guessing that will wear off soon…
Jetlag had really gotten the better of me the first few days. I was very fortunate that one of the faculty hosted me for the three days before i had to come move in to Endicott. It really saved me a chunk of change in accommodation. Holly was more than welcoming in opening her house up and assisting me with grounding my bearings in Salem as well as what else to expect with everything travel and upcoming of the next few days. A massive thank you to Holly, as i said it was more than appreciated.
so this past week has been full of irregular sleeping patterns, eating patterns but settling in was alright. i mean having move in a few days with all the other international students was better because atleast we were all finding our ways together. Im fortunate as in the suite i am in, we have 6 of us students. The Global Ambassadors were so great that they set up our beds in our rooms and left a care package for us. i really think that was a great idea.

The campus is a little smaller than i imagined, but it still is a beautiful campus. Anyone who knows me well enough, knows that i love being near the ocean. it is my zen place. And how lucky am i that i get to wake up right to the sounds of the ocean right across the road. I guess I know its a nice little walk when i am feeling a little overwhelmed, stressed or even getting a bit homesick. lol….
So as i said, I have been busy with non stop orientation with the International Office the past week, as of Friday we have Orientation as transfer students but this is involved with the Freshmen of the Graduating Class of 2023. Its so different, as in Australia, we dont refer to our students as this, because each student is different and can graduate in their own time frame. The next few days are jammed packed with workshops, but it is also a great way of interacting with other students.
But to finish this blog off, Kaileigh (one of my suite mates) and I went and watched the Endicott’s Mens Soccer team play. They unfortunately went down. I am still waiting for football season to commence, so I can watch some Gridiron…

homesickness hasnt hit me too much yet, because i still talk to my siblings every afternoon which is their morning or my early morning and their late-night but we actually have been having a blast of conversations about family, the kids, life and me travelling over here… I guess thats all for now, as tomorrow is a big day of orientation as is the nwxt few days. classes for us dont start officially until Wednesday. little excited. Ordered my textbooks. Oh my goodness, textbooks are so much cheaper than Australia, for purchasing but also to rent… Christi has a happy face ….

Hey Christi,
Iβm from the North Rockhampton campus and i have also applied to attend Endicott College as of term 1 2020.
I have been following your blog for a while now and I have to say itβs very impressive.
You are showing me how easy you have settled in, how helpful they are and just how nice the campus really is⦠all of which is making me want 2020 to come sooner.

Hey Jye,
Thats awesome. you will love it over here.. haha funny thing is I know that feeling all too well… It may lool easy for settling in but it is a masisve adjustment with different time zones etc, but with the help of the International Office and other international students, The Global Ambassadors, faculty and the Orientation Leaders it is a really good network. You are probably just wanting it to be that time already, i was like that. itll be here veggie you know it. π
